Cardiogenic shock

What it means
Severely decreased cardiac output with evidence of inadequate end-organ perfusion (i.e., tissue hypoxia) in the presence of adequate intravascular volume.
Cardiogenic shock can result from a number of different of cardiac insults, the most common of which is acute myocardial infarction.
