Subpleural honeycombing

What it means

So-called honeycombs (variably sized cysts in a background of densely scarred tissue) located in the subpleural space.

Pathologically, honeycombing represents destroyed and fibrotic lung tissue that contains numerous cystic airspaces with thick fibrous walls.
