Radiolucent focal defect of a rib shaft.
A rib gap can be congenital or acquired. If congenital this feature is nearly pathgnomonic for Cerebrocostomandibular syndrome (MIM:117650). Acquired rib gaps can be seen after surgical procedures or with fractures or infections.
