What it means

Hyperplasia of the islets of Langerhans, i.e., of the regions of the pancreas that contain its endocrine cells.

The islets of Langerhans contain the alpha cells (producing glucagon), beta cells (insulin and amylin), delta cells (somatostatin),PP cells (pancreatic polypeptide), and the epsilon cells (ghrelin).
