An abnormally increased concentration of the IgG4 subtype in the blood circulation.

Allergens are often good inducers of IgG1 and IgG4, in addition to IgE. IgG4 antibodies are often formed following repeated or long-term exposure to antigen in a non-infectious setting and may become the dominant subclass.
