Focal T2 hyperintense thalamic lesion

What it means

A lighter than expected T2 signal on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the thalamus. This term refers to a localized hyperintensity affecting a particular region of the thalamus.

The term "unidentified bright object" has been used to describe T2 hyperintense lesions in the thalamus and elsewhere in patients with neurofibromatosis.
