Elevated circulating C-peptide concentration

What it means
The concentration of C-peptide in the blood circulation is above the upper limit of normal.
C-peptide, which is composed of 31 amino acids, is released from the pancreatic beta-cells following cleavage of insulin from proinsulin. C-peptide levels are generally measured after an overnight fast. Since C-peptide is secreted in equimolar amounts to insulin, this feature correlates with increased insulin secretion.
