About this program

How can this program help me?

The California Disabled Veterans’ Exemption Program offers a property tax exemption (tax break) to help you lower the amount of property tax you pay. You will get an exemption on the property's assessed (estimated) value. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes. The amount of exemption you get depends on your level of income.

Please note: Once you enroll in this program, you cannot get help from your state’s Homestead Exemption program. The exemption you get from this program will be higher in value than the state Homestead program.

How do I apply?

To get information on how to apply, please contact your local county tax assessors’ office.
