Connecticut’s National Family Caregiver Support Program

This program provides services to you so that you can take a break or rest from caregiving. You can take part in this program if the person you are caring for is age 60 or older or has Alzheimer's or a related illness. You can also get help from this program if you are a grandparent age 60 or older and you care for a child or children under 18 years of age.

How can this program help me?
This program provides services to you so that you can take a break or rest from caregiving. Services may include:
- Information and referrals: Learn how to give care and learn about services, community resources, and other local programs that can help you and the person you are caring for.
- Assessment: Get one-on-one help to assess the needs of the person you are caring for and find additional options for community-based services.
- Training and support: Attend caregiver support groups and get counseling on how to make decisions as a caregiver, solve problems, and manage stress.
- Temporary relief services: Get in-home respite care, adult day care, or emergency respite services for the person you are caring for, so that you can take a break from caregiving.
- Other services: Get additional help, on a limited basis, to enhance the care you are giving.
