Widely spaced toes

HP:0008094

What it means

An overall widening of the spaces between the digits.

This description is based on the width of the gap between the toes. It is usually used when the width of the toes remains normal rather than to describe a situation where the toes are thin or narrow. This term should not be used for the situation where the finding is limited to a gap between T1,2 (see Sandal gap).

The range is how often this sign appears among people diagnosed with each disease — it is not a probability of having any of them. Many of these signs also occur in common, non-rare conditions. A sign on this page is a conversation to have with a clinician, not a conclusion.
