Increased HLA-DR+ CD4+ T cell proportion

What it means

Abnormal increase of the activated HLA-DR+ CD4+ T cell subpopulation, measured as percentage of total CD4+ T cells in the blood, compared to a reference range for a given sex and age-group.

HLA-DR is an MHC class II cell surface receptor that presents antigens (peptides of at least 9 amino acids), thereby constituting a ligand for the T-cell receptor. HLA-DR can be upregulated in response to immune stimulation.
