Complex III, also known as ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase or cytochrome bc1 complex, is a multisubunit integral membrane complex of the mitochondrial transport chain, which catalyzes electron transfer from ubiquinol to cytochrome c and couples this process to electrogenic translocation of protons across the mitochondrial inner membrane. Mitochondrial complex III is integrated in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
