Calcinosis cutis

What it means

Deposition of calcium in the skin.

The lesions observed incalcinosis cutis are firm papules, plaues, or nodules that have a whitish or yellowish color. Lesions may be solitary but it is more common to observe multiple lesions. The lesions may develop ulceration with a discharge of a chalk-like substance. The lesions can be painful, especially if they are located on the fingertips. Lesions at other sites may limit joint mobility or stiffen the skin.
