What it means
An adverse disease following vaccination with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) live attenuated Mycobacterium bovis vaccine, ranging from local BCGitis (regional lymphadenitis or injection-site abscess) to disseminated BCGosis. BCG associated disease can be a manifestation of unusual susceptibility to infection, particularly in severe combined immunodeficiency, Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease (MSMD), and chronic granulomatous disease.
