Abnormality of the intrinsic pathway
HP:0010989
What it means
An abnormality of the intrinsic pathway (also known as the contact activation pathway) of the coagulation cascade.
The intrinsic pathway requires coagulation factors VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII, as well as the proteins prekallikrein (PK) and high-molecular-weight kininogen (HK or HMWK), in addition to calcium ions and phospholipids secreted from platelets.
