Any structural anomaly of a lingual nerve.

The lingual nerve (LN) is one of the two terminal branches of the posterior division of the mandibular nerve. It supplies the general sensation to the mucosa of the anterior two-thirds of the tongue, the sublingual mucosa, the mandibular lingual gingiva and the floor of the mouth.The chorda tympani nerve, a branch of the facial nerve joins this nerve carrying taste fibers from the anterior two third of the tongue and parasympathetic fibers to the submandibular ganglion.
