Abnormal alpha granules

What it means

Defective structure, size or content of alpha granules, platelet organelles that contain several growth factors destined for release during platelet activation at sites of vessel wall injury.

This feature can be observed by electron microscopy. Alpha granules normally contain a number of proteins including von Willebrand factor, and fibrinogen.
