About this program
If a permanent disability makes it difficult for you to leave your home, you may qualify for extra financial support through the VA. VA Housebound benefits provide an additional monthly payment to eligible veterans and surviving spouses who receive a VA pension and spend most of their time at home because of a disability.
How do VA Housebound benefits work?
VA Housebound benefits provide an extra monthly payment to veterans and surviving spouses who already receive a VA pension and be substantially confided to your home because of a permanent disability.
You can use this additional monthly benefit to help pay for everyday expenses, health care costs, or other needs related to living safely at home. If you qualify for Housebound benefits, this payment is added to your monthly VA pension. The amount you receive depends on your pension, eligibility, and personal circumstances, such as whether you have dependents.
