Washington Property Tax Deferral for Senior Citizens & Disabled Persons

State

This program can give you more time to pay your property tax for a house you own and live in. The state will charge interest on any deferred (delayed) property tax. The delayed taxes and all interest charged must be repaid to the state if you sell or transfer your residence. You can get help from this program if you are at least age 65 or have a disability. You must also meet other program guidelines. You may also get help if you are at least age 57 and you are the surviving spouse or domestic partner of a person who was receiving a deferral at the time of their death.

About this program

How can this program help me?

The Property Tax Deferral Program can give you extra time to pay property taxes on a home you live in. It does not cancel the property taxes you owe. You will have to pay interest on any delayed property tax. You can delay the payment of your property tax for as long as you own and live in the same home. The delayed taxes and all interest charged must be repaid to the state if you sell or transfer your residence.
