Arizona Senior Property Valuation Protection Option (Senior Freeze)
State
This program "freezes" the assessed (taxable) value of your home, helping you save money on property taxes. You may get help from this program if you are a homeowner, you are 65 years of age or older, and you have limited income.
About this program
As home values rise, property taxes can become harder to afford. Arizona's Senior Property Valuation Protection Option (often called the Senior Freeze) helps eligible homeowners by freezing their home's taxable value, which can help limit future property tax increases caused by rising home values. This can help you stretch your budget further and make it easier to manage housing costs.
What is the Arizona Senior Property Valuation Protection Option?
The Arizona Senior Property Valuation Protection Option, also called the Senior Freeze, helps eligible Arizona homeowners by freezing their home's taxable value. Although the program is called a "Senior Freeze," it does not freeze your property tax bill. Instead, it freezes your home's taxable value, which is used to calculate your property taxes. This can help protect you from paying higher property taxes if your home's value increases over time.
Note: Your property tax bill can still change if local tax rates or special assessments change. The program only freezes your home's taxable value—it does not guarantee your property taxes will stay the same.
