The FAIR Plan - Kansas
State
If your property is "high risk" and you cannot get home insurance through private companies, you may be able to get coverage from the Kansas Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan.
About this program
If you live in Kansas and have had trouble getting homeowners or property insurance, the Kansas Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan may be able to help. This program gives people a way to get basic property insurance coverage when regular insurance companies won’t insure their home or business—often because it’s considered “high risk.”
The FAIR Plan is managed by the Kansas All-Industry Placement Facility and helps ensure that homeowners have access to essential protection for their property.
What does the Kansas FAIR Plan cover?
The Kansas FAIR Plan offers basic property insurance for homeowners and renters.
A homeowner’sinsurance policy usually includes:
- Dwelling – Covers damage to your home and other structures, like a garage or shed, from events like fire, wind, or vandalism
- Contents – Covers personal belongings, such as furniture, clothing, and other items
- Additional Living Expenses – Helps pay for temporary housing, food, and other costs if you can’t stay in your home
- Liability – Protects you if you or a family member accidentally injure someone or damage their property

A renter’sinsurance policy typically covers all of the above except dwelling coverage.
