Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - Utah
State
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.
About this program
If you are 60 or older and live in Utah, you may be able to get a free box of food each month through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), also called the Senior Food Box Program. The program is for older adults with low incomes. It can help you get healthy food and lower your grocery costs.
Each box weighs about 40 pounds and includes different foods you can use to make meals at home.
How does the Utah Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?
Each month, the Utah Senior Food Box Program gives eligible older adults a free box of USDA foods. The box contains about 10 days' worth of food and is valued at about $55.
The food is meant to add to the groceries you already buy, not provide everything you need for the month. It can help you spend less on groceries and have more healthy foods for your meals.
You can also get nutrition information and recipes to help you make meals with the foods in your box. The foods in the box may change from month to month. A typical box may include:
-
Canned fruits and vegetables
-
Canned meats, such as beef, pork, or beef stew
-
Pasta or rice
-
Dry beans or peanut butter
-
Fruit juice
-
Dry cereal
-
Cheese
-
Powdered or canned milk
You can receive food through CSFP even if you get help from another food assistance program, such as SNAP.
Who can get help from the Utah Senior Food Box Program?
You may be able to get a monthly food box if you:
-
Are age 60 or older
-
Live in Utah
-
Meet the income guidelines, which are set at 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

What if I cannot get help from Utah CSFP?
If you do not qualify for CSFP or the program is not offered where you live, you may still have other ways to get help with food. Consider these options:
-
Meals on Wheels: Meals on Wheels delivers meals to your home in many communities.
-
Food banks and food pantries: Food banks and pantries offer free groceries to people who need help buying food. Find a food bank in Utah.
-
SNAP: SNAP helps you pay for groceries each month. Your benefits are loaded onto an EBT card that you can use at stores that accept SNAP.
-
Group meal sites: These sites offer meals in community locations, such as senior centers, schools, and churches.
