Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - South Carolina
State
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.
About this program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can help older South Carolina residents get healthy food at no cost. The program is also called the Senior Food Box Program. If you are 60 or older, live in South Carolina, and meet the income guidelines, you may be able to get a free food box each month.
The box weighs about 40 pounds and includes different foods that you can use to make meals at home. Getting food through CSFP can help you stretch your grocery budget and add more nutritious foods to your meals.
How does the South Carolina Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?
Each month, CSFP gives eligible older adults a box of food at no cost. The food box does not provide everything you need to eat for the month, but it can provide foods with important nutrients and help lower your grocery costs.
The contents of the box can vary. You may receive shelf-stable foods such as:
-
Canned fruits and vegetables
-
Canned meats, such as beef, pork, or beef stew
-
Pasta or rice
-
Dry beans or peanut butter
-
Fruit juice
-
Dry cereal
-
Cheese
-
Powdered or canned milk
The South Carolina Department of Agriculture works with food banks to provide CSFP food boxes throughout the state. You can still receive CSFP food if you get help from another food assistance program, including SNAP. Each food box contains about $50 worth of food.

CSFP is available to South Carolina residents who meet the program's guidelines. You may qualify if you:
