Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - Nebraska
State
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.
About this program
If you are 60 or older and live in Nebraska, you may be able to get free food through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). Sometimes called the Senior Food Box Program, CSFP helps older adults with low incomes get healthy foods at no cost.
Each box weighs about 40 pounds and includes different foods that you can use to make meals at home. If you are eligible, you can get a food box each month to help lower your grocery costs.
How does the Nebraska Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?
The Nebraska CSFP gives eligible older adults a box of food each month. The food you receive can help you save money on groceries while adding more nutritious foods to your meals.
The food is meant to add to the groceries you already have. It does not provide all the food you need for the month. The items in the box may be different each month. Foods may include:
-
Canned fruits and vegetables
-
Canned meats, such as beef, pork, or beef stew
-
Pasta or rice
-
Dry beans or peanut butter
-
Fruit juice
-
Dry cereal
-
Cheese
-
Powdered or canned milk
You can get CSFP food even if you receive benefits from another food program, such as SNAP. Each food box has about $50 worth of food.
Who can get help from the Nebraska Senior Food Box Program?
You may be able to get a food box through CSFP if you:
-
Are age 60 or older
-
