Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - North Dakota
State
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.
About this program
If you are 60 or older and live in North Dakota, you may be able to get free food through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). Also called the Senior Food Box Program, CSFP helps older adults with low incomes get nutritious food at no cost. If you qualify, you can get a food box each month to help lower your grocery costs.
Each box weighs about 40 pounds and includes a variety of foods you can use to make meals at home.
How does the North Dakota Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?
If you qualify, you can receive one food box each month. The food is meant to add to the groceries you already buy. It does not provide all the food you need for the month, but it can help you get important nutrients and spend less on groceries.
The foods you receive may be different each month. A typical food box may include shelf-stable foods such as:
-
Canned fruits and vegetables
-
Canned meats, such as beef, pork, or beef stew
-
Pasta or rice
-
Dry beans or peanut butter
-
Fruit juice
-
Dry cereal
-
Cheese
-
Powdered or canned milk
You can get CSFP food even if you receive help from another food assistance program, including SNAP. Each food box contains about $50 worth of food.
Who can get help from the North Dakota Senior Food Box Program?
You may qualify for CSFP in North Dakota if you:
-
