Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - Hawaii

State

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.

About this program

If you live in Hawaii and have trouble affording healthy food, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can help. In Hawaii, the program is also called the Senior Food Box Program.

If you qualify, you can get a food box each month. The box weighs about 40 pounds and includes foods you can use to make meals at home.

How does the Hawaii Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?

The Hawaii CSFP provides a box of food each month to adults age 60 and older who meet the program's income limits. The foods in the box can help you get more of the nutrients you need and make your grocery budget go further.

CSFP foods may include:

-

Canned fruits and vegetables

-

Canned meats, such as beef, pork, and beef stew

-

Pasta or rice

-

Dry beans or peanut butter

-

Fruit juice

-

Dry cereal

-

Cheese

-

Powdered or canned milk

The foods you receive may change from month to month. You can pick up your food box at a local CSFP distribution site, such as a food pantry, church, or senior center.

The food box is meant to add to the food you already have. It is not meant to provide all of your food each month.

You can get CSFP food even if you also receive help from SNAP. The food box provides about $50 worth of food.

Who can get help from the Hawaii Senior Food Box Program?

You may qualify for CSFP if you:

-

Are age 60 or older

-

Live in an area where CSFP is available

-

Have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level

You will also need to show a valid form of ID when you apply. This may include a driver's license, Permanent Resident Card, or passport.
