Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) - Colorado ("Everyday Eats")
State
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can provide you with certain foods at no cost. You may be able to get help from this program if you are 60 years of age or older, meet the program guidelines, and live in a county or community that offers CSFP.
About this program
If you live in Colorado and have trouble paying for healthy groceries, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) may help. In Colorado, CSFP is also known as Everyday Eats. The program provides nutritious food at no cost to adults age 60 and older who meet the program guidelines.
If you qualify, you can receive a food box each month. The box weighs about 40 pounds and contains foods that can help you prepare healthy meals.
How does the Colorado Commodity Supplemental Food Program work?
Colorado CSFP provides free food each month to adults age 60 and older with low incomes. The food box includes items from different food groups to help you get important nutrients and maintain a healthy diet.
Your food box may include:
-
Canned fruits and vegetables
-
Canned meats, such as beef, pork, or beef stew
-
Pasta or rice
-
Dry beans or peanut butter
-
Fruit juice
-
Dry cereal
-
Cheese
-
Powdered or canned milk
Local food banks, senior centers, health clinics, and other community organizations help people apply for CSFP and distribute food boxes each month.
CSFP is meant to add to the food you already have, not provide all of your groceries. The food you receive can help you spend less on groceries while adding nutritious foods to your meals.
Even if you already get help from other food programs like SNAP, you can still get a senior food box. This box gives you about $50 worth of food.
