Caregiver Support and Respite Services
State
Caregiver Support and Respite Services offer time away from daily caregiving responsibilities, along with support to help reduce stress and prevent burnout. They are designed to make it easier to continue caring for a loved one over time.
About this program
Caring for a family member or loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Caregiver Support and Respite Services give caregivers time to take a break, recharge, and get the support they need while continuing to care for someone they love. These services, provided through Family Services Rochester, can help make caregiving feel more manageable and less overwhelming.
How do Caregiver Support and Respite Services work?
Caregiver Support and Respite Services are available in Rice, Olmsted, and surrounding counties. These services include:
-
One-on-one counseling: Caregiver counseling offers guidance and support for primary caregivers. A certified consultant provides advice, coping strategies, and helpful information to help you manage challenges and reduce stress in your role.
-
Support from a trained volunteer caregiver: A trained volunteer stays with the person you care for while you are away, giving you time to rest and take care of your own needs. A trained volunteer visits the home to offer companionship, a friendly presence, and other non-medical support tailored to the person's needs. All volunteers receive training and pass a background check before they begin providing services.
How much do these services cost?
The amount you pay for Caregiver Support and Respite Services depends on the household income of the person receiving care and the type of support needed. Before services begin, ask about any fees so you know what to expect and can decide whether the services are a good fit for your situation. To learn more about expected costs, contact Family Services Rochester at 507-287-2010.
