Georgia Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veterans Program

State

This program offers a tax exemption (tax break) that can lower the amount of state, county, municipal, and school property taxes you pay. You can take part in this program if you are a veteran with a service- connected disability and you own and occupy a home in the state and pay property tax on it. In certain cases, if you are a surviving spouse of a veteran (who has not remarried), you may be able to get an exemption.

About this program

How can this program help me?

The Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veterans Program gives you a property tax exemption (tax break) of $60,000 plus an additional amount that reduces the amount of state, county, municipal, and school property taxes you pay. The total amount is subtracted from the assessed (estimated) value of your property. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes.

How do I get help?
